What inspired me to start blogging
Yayyyyyy...my first blog post....hopefully not my last. Okay - I'm going to treat this blog like a 'Dear Diary' situation and just write what I think and feel. So here goes nothing.
Tonight I watched my daughter - Amelia Eve - as she jumped and climbed on a mountain of pillows I put in her crib. She was so happy standing on these pillows as she could scratch the wall and bite the headboard of her crib.
And it was in that moment, feeling exhausted and a little down - as I watched my child lick the top of her crib and look back on me with the biggest smile on her face - that I realized that I need to stop and cherish these small moments in life more. Especially since our way of life has drastically changed in a few short weeks - from being social to being socially distant.
Too many times I find myself caught up in getting 'stuff done' , or spending too much time focused on the things that aren't going right or 'my way'. It was in that moment that my 9 month old taught me to relax a little more, let life happen, and find joy in the wherever I can - even in a stack of pillows :).
I'm writing this post on my cell phone a few hours after that moment. I've thought and talked about writing a blog for a few years but I've never had anything I wanted to say. Nothing felt real enough or important enough to write about much less to share with others.
I plan to use this blog as a tool to help me stay present, to focus on and celebrate the good things in my life, to cast a light on and work through tough times, and to share my (our) joy with others so that maybe in some small way I (we) can help you find more joy in your life.
If you've read this far, thank you for taking a few minutes out of your day to see what's going on with me. If you're interested in reading my further posts (rambles) feel free to subscribe and you'll be notified when I post something new. Thanks in advance for your support. If not, I appreciate that you've read this far :) ;) PS - I'm not much of a wordsmith so I expect my posts will be relatively short.
